Huaiyin Institute of Technology is a multi-discipline polytechnic under Jiangsu Education Commission, embracing engineering, economics, management, literature, agronomy and natrral science. It lies in Huai¡¯an City of Jiangsu Province, the birthplace of our respected Premier Zhou Enlai, covering an area of 2125 acres.
 
 
¡¡¡¡Huaiyin Institute of Technology mainly undertakes common undergraduate education. It consists of 11 departments and 2 colleges, namely, the Mechanical Engineering Department, the Electronic Information Engineering Department, the Computer Engineering Department, the Civil Engineering Department, the Transportation Engineering Department, the Biological & Chemical Engineering Department, the Agricultural & food Engineering Department,the Economy and Management Department,the Foreign
   
  Language Department, the Human Culture & Social Science Department, the Computing Science Department. In addition, it has Jianghuai College and the Adult Education Department and one physical teaching section. The institute now has 44 specialitieo with more than 12,000 students enrolled, more than 1,000 teaching and administrative staff, inclusive of some 600 faculty, of whom about 200 are professors and associate professors, more than 200 are doctors and graduates. The institute is well equipped with complete infrastructure and modern teaching and experiment equipment. There are 880,000 volumes of books covering a wide range of subjects in the library and 1475 kinds of various periodicals both in Chinese and in foreign languages as well. In recent four years, HIT has been granted 83 municipal research projects. 1878 articles have been published, among which 492 published in the core Chinese periodicals. What is more, many of them have been included in SCI, EI, ISTP, and CA. HIT has Registered 10 national patents and some of the technological research results have introduced and applied in many other province.
   Huaiyin Institute of Technology has taken active steps in international communications. It has established cooperative relations in school-running with foreign universities including the Cuyahoga Community College in U.S.A, the Curtin University of Technology in Australia, Centennial College of Applied Arts and Technology in Canada, the State Transport University of Byelorussia, University of Sydney in Australia and the Tezukayama University in Japan. We have already had quite a few teachers and students studying in the U.S.A., Canada and Japan as well as some experts from the U.S.A,¡¢Canada and Australia teaching at our institute.
